At our monthly Club meeting on 17 March, the impact of COVID-19 was discussed in relation to our annual show on 16 & 17 May and the majority of members present voted to cancel the 2020 Show.
It is disappointing for the Club, but we must put the safety and wellbeing of our members and the general public first. The decision to cancel has not been made lightly; however, in the wake of the coronavirus being declared a global pandemic, we feel it would be irresponsible to continue with the event.
Our obligation is to not facilitate any spread of the coronavirus and we would like to reiterate the importance of being vigilant with the processes and recommendations set out by the relevant Government authorities. The conditions around the COVID-19 situation are rapidly changing and we are definitely in unchartered waters. With it being an ever-changing virus situation, we are seeing the affect that this is having on many clubs with cancellation of events being announced daily.
These are undoubtedly testing times for all Australians, given the impact COVID-19 is having on the way we live, and if you believe the experts we still have a long way to go. In the meantime, please be safe and heed the advice offered.
The annual HTAA show will be back bigger and better in 2021 – save the dates 15 & 16 May 2021.
